Frequently Asked Questions
What do your personal Training Plans Include?
All of my training plans are built for the specific athlete in mind - no online cookie cutter plans. First, I conduct a start up meeting with the athlete which includes a complete running history, injury history, life style questions, and goal setting session. The entire start up meeting is usually 60 to 90 minutes long and can be done in person or over the phone. After the athlete and myself agree on clearly defined goals, I begin to construct the plan.
During implementation of the plan, the athlete has complete access to me as a coach by phone, text, and e-mail. Many athletes e-mail me multiple times a week, but I require either a weekly phone call or e-mail (or both) with the athlete each week. While I prefer at least a 30 minute phone call, I realize that some athlete's lives are very hectic which is why I accommodate e-mail updates. Communication between the athlete and myself allow me to adjust the plan as needed, mitigate against the risk of injury, and ultimately make me a more effective coach.

What does a "Typical Plan" look like?
My personalized plans are as diverse as my athletes. Some athletes excel on more miles in a week while others excel on less. Some athlete's plans implement cross training and others do not. For example, I have had female athletes run 3:25 in the marathon on 6 days a week of running and different athlete's run the same time on 3 days a week of running. How much running a particular athlete does depends on the time they have to dedicate to training, the athlete's lifestyle and other obligations, the athlete's goals, and his/her running /injury history. Many of my athlete's plans include cross training days which can include biking, swimming, or other workout such as specific yoga routines that I may suggest.
What if the athlete gets injured?
While most of my athletes are very healthy, injuries and sickness do happen. If the athlete is unable to train, I adjust the plan accordingly. I will not charge the athlete an additional cost for the weeks that I re-write due to injury. Part of the advantage of having a coach is the coach's ability to adjust the plan as necessary.
Are your plans refundable?
Unfortunately, after the initial in-take session occurs and I begin to write the plan, I cannot offer refunds. I write training plans from the goal race backwards and as such, training plans require many hours to construct even before I send the athlete the first portion of the plan. Therefore, I am unable to offer refunds. If you purchase a plan and never conduct an in-take session with me, the package is transferable to another athlete or transferable into a gift certificate for the value that you purchased.
What is included in your Stability Plan?
My stability plans are specific, comprehensive, and specialized injury reduction programs which focus on stability and core strength. Many athletes desire supplemental work to complement their running, but they are unsure where to begin. After taking a complete history on your experience with strength training along with a running history, I write a personalized stability plan for the athlete which progresses over a 12-week period. Throughout the 12-week period I work closely with the athlete to adjust the plan as appropriate for the athlete's ability level.
